Impress to Bring 75 Jobs to New Facility in Binghamton Area
Raymond Corp. also makes Big Announcement
The Impress company, created from two European powerhouse metal packaging companies (Pechiney and Schmalbach-Lubeca), has begun construction on a 91,000 square foot, LEED certified production facility built on 12 acres of land in the Conklin Corporate Park. The international company is a Dutch company base in Deventer, The Netherlands.
Impress supplies metal packaging products for many consumer products and currently has several U.S. locations. Their steel and aluminum cans come in all sizes and shapes and are used to package products from food to coffee, paint, hair spray and more. Core customers include Bumble Bee Foods and Del Monte Foods.
Impress will begin job interviews in mid October of 2009 with hiring to begin early 2010. Most jobs will be highly skilled mechanical technician positions paying approximately $20 per hour. With expected growth in their business, employment at Impress could grow much larger.
Impress currently has a temporary office on Melody Lane in the former post office.
In a stunning and unexpected move, the Raymond Corp., manufacturer of fork trucks has announced plans to close an Ontario, Canada manufacturing plant and move 250 jobs to Greene, NY headquarters. According to news announcements, Raymond expects to hire 65 employees over the next 20 weeks and expects that over the next year they may need 300 new employees to meet demand.
